Loo with a view by davidw on 8 February 2004 3:23pm
I have been wanting to comment on this for quite some time since reading Michael's claim in "Pole to Pole" that the ig-Loo had probably the most spectacular view "from the throne". I have been wanting to challenge that as I really feel the loo at the mountaineers base camp on Enilchek glacier in Eastern Kyrghyzstan must be a contender for the title. The view includes the 7,000 metre (27,000 ft) Khan Tengri mountain, its much less crowded than the south side of the Himalaya's like Nepal - and probably cheaper to access. A fabulous experience

Yes. Many here also. A recent one was on a trek to Tirich Mir basecamp in Chitral, Pakistan. Me and my local guide stayed in shepherds stone house one night on the trek, and the view from the toilet outside looked out way back down into the valleys we'd walked up. Incredible. I dont have a photo from the window though (stupidly). But i have a photo from a mud brick toilet at Band-E-Amir lake in Afghaniastan. Quite a nice view.

Let us not forget the view from the urinals at the Felix bar atop the Peninsula Hotel in Hong Kong, which offers incredible views over Kowloon:

I think that's the first time I've ever seen a men's toilet facility.
