New Zealand and a long layover in Australia. by mylomook on 31 July 2012 12:06am

Hello all! It's been over a year since I have left my country, but this October I will be heading to New Zealand for a month with my best friend.

Right now we are looking at tickets and one of the options is to have an 11 hour layover in Brisbane. Would that be worth it? Or is there not much to do around the Brisbane airport.

After that we are going to be heading to Wellington and we are looking for suggestions of things to do. We might have some one to drive us around a bit, but we are also hoping to rent a scooter. Is that possible with an American drivers license?

We are planning on doing some nature walks, bungee jumping, hitting up some beaches, and learning a bit about the history and culture as well.

Since the flight alone is going to set us back quite a bit, we are looking for some cheaper suggestions, because we will have to make them money last.

Thanks so much,
Mylo

Sorry - I have never been, though my sister and her family have lived in Wanganui since 1974!

My nephews and their families now live in Taupo, and I understand that Lake Taupo is very much worth a visit.

Have fun!

:)
