Himalaya/Nepal by mypyrex on 14 December 2010 7:55pm

I hope Michael reads this! I've recently returned from a trekking holiday to Everest Base camp. So often I saw sights and thought to myself "Michael Palin would have enjoyed that or had something to say about it" Like a dentist's shop in Kathmandu proudly displaying an array of false teeth and "before and after" photographs of patients' gnashers!

Best wishes

Was your trek winter or summer? I would assume November making it winter.

Sounds interesting. Talking of dentists, I was walking in a small village in NE China and a dentist was treating a patient in the street! The patient was sitting on an old wooden chair at the side of the road, while the dentist was poking around in his mouth, with some of his equipment on an upturned wooden box.

An episode from Mr. Palin's Himalaya series is starting in 15 minutes on Dave (Freeview).

It was the last episode in the series where he covers Bhutan to the Brahmaputra/Ganges delta.
