Saw Time Bandits For the 1st Time!! by Dreamchild on 3 March 2003 7:37pm

I really liked it even though Michael only appeared in a hand full of scenes,I thought it was really good kinda off beat and I like that in a movie I know him and Terry G wrote it so I don't see how I could of not liked it I have liked everything Michael has been a part of.
LOL,
Beth

Time Bandits is very good its a cool premise unfortunately the lead midget topped himself otherwise im sure they may have mad a sequel later on. The possibilities with that kind of subject matter are limitless. The child star is a bit wet but the rest of the cast are fantastic.
Im going to get it on dvd when ive got some extra dough. I havnt seen the missionary for a long time how did you two enjoy that and is it worth a revisit. I remember laughing myself silly over the bit where I think the king shot some bloke on a hunt accidently in the ass and he had to pretend it didnt hurt and then whenin private he screamed continually for a week; summit like that anyway.

I remember seeing 'Time Bandits' in the theater. Loved it! Brazil too. I like seeing him play a bit of a dark character in that one. And what about Jabberwocky? You get to see a bit of the Palin bum in that one! >:-) It was on a limited theater release last winter. It was fun to see that on the big screen again.
Enjoy your DVD's Dreamchild (I'll have to get in on that 'Missionary' release! Didn't know about that). Thanks for the info!

WHAT??!!?? Jabberwocky was shown in Minneapolis last winter? how did i miss that? *gasp* that's a terrible thing for a Gilliam fan to miss. the only Gilliam films i have seen in the theater are '12 monkeys' and 'Fear and Loathing' ...i am determined to see Brazil in the theater someday though!

anyway, back on track, i'm a HUUUUGE Gilliam fan so i of course love Time Bandits! i'm glad you got you chance to finally see it and actually enjoyed it!

i should mention Michael in this post shouldn't i? lol! 'Pansy! the problem! it's back!' ha! love that scene in Time Bandits! i just got a lovely TB lobby card in the post picturing Michael and Shelley Duval tied to a tree looking rather distraught...that's going right up on my wall!

The funny thing is that I was actually a child when I first saw this, so I had no idea who Terry or Michael or anyone was, but I saw the second half of the movie and I thought it was cool.

When I became a Python fan and I saw some still pictures from it, I said to myself, "I remember THAT!". I just finally rewatched it last November and it was a joy. I still enjoy something like "The Missionary" better, but that may be because of my Michael bias... ;O)

I've only seen "The Missionary" once but I think it's my favorite Palin movie so far. Mind you, I haven't seen "American Friends" and a few other shows yet, but...

Sorry Kelly....it was at this teeny little movie theater near the U. Kinda by 'Stub and Herb's'. I saw something about it on Pythonline. Did you at least get to see 'Holy Grail' when it was at The Uptown? (I think that was the previous Summer....all I know is that I saw it on my Birthday and was very happy about it).
I haven't seen 'American Friends' either, Mary....I mean Rusted ;-)

Gah! i can't believe i missed that! *cries*. ah, i do remember when The Adventures of Baron Munchausen was shown at the Uptown in 2001 but i had to miss it because my brother was in a play in St. Cloud that night. and NOOOOOO i didn't see the Holy Grail at the Uptown either...i somehow missed that one as well. damnet. this is almost as bad as when as when i found out that i missed every single one of Gilliam's films being screened at the Walker in 1998 along with a talk by the man himself. somehow i seem so be just a little bit behind on the news. but never again! with my Gilliam site i am destined to keep up to date!

switching the topic back over to Michael...i also have not see 'American Friends'...

You can't find Time Bandits?????????????

Where are you located, Tracy?

Is it just me, or have other people had trouble getting their grubby hands on "American Friends"? I'm going to have to order it through Amazon; it's still in my shopping cart, but I haven't gotten around to getting it yet. It may be gone by now! At any rate, I found most of Michael's other larger movies at the library or at video rental stores. But not AF. Oh well.

Speaking of Michael and Terry G, I haven't seen "Jabberwocky" yet either. That one sounds interesting...what's it like/about?
