Wow! Lucky chap! I see he is now working as a banker. That must be pretty boring after all that travelling!

Being pedantic, but taking nothing away from his achievement, there are about 230 countries in the world whether members of or recognized by the United Nations or not. Taiwan, Vatican City and Kosovo are some of the extras that could be argued about. The United Kingdom is a single country and if you visit Northern Ireland then you have been in the United Kingdom. Then there's North and South Sudan which are recently recognised as having country status where before it was just Sudan.
I understand this because I have one stamp from every country in the world, as of about 2008, and defining the list was tricky.
