Indian Railways by tucsonmike on 14 June 2013 3:08am

If I ever have the money and if my company ever lets me take a vacation, I would love to ride Indian Railways. I am reading a Sherlock Holmes on his missing years and the stories take place in India, Nepal, and Tibet. I wonder who would go with me.

Yes, mike, that would be an experience but at my age I would prefer a less exciting form of transport and not so far from my front door!

urgent message to anne by perfectbitch on 16 June 2013 6:09pm

Sorry to use this site to message Anne but I don't feel I should use fb - the reason will become obvious.
I have a friend in Turkey who has been posting many photos and articles about the protests. They were in Turkish so I didn't understand the words but the photos needed little explanation. I have been away since Wednesday and logged into fb this evening. There were no posts from my friend so I scrolled down and there was nothing! I tried to go to her page but there is no sign of her anywhere on fb!!! I know she wouldn't have unfriended me but I now have no way of contacting her. I was wondering if you, Anne, or anyone else has experienced anything similar? Linz

pb, you should have used a new topic for your urgent message.
~
Text, e-mail or letter is maybe more appropriate as the posts here don't seem to be read much at times.
~
Don't worry about your friend. Computers, especially the internet, are very fickle things.
~
If Facebook is the only contact you have with your friend then I suspect they are not a really close friend.
~
Can't Facebook and any website remove or block unsuitable posts?

Linz I got back from Turkey last night. Haven't lost any Turkish friends on FB, in fact one commented on a pic I put up there this morning.

The only sign we saw of any unrest was when we were in a restaurant and dozens of police rushed past. There have been peaceful protests in local parks, that is all - life goes on as normal. EVERYONE seems to be against Erdoğan, the PM. We were surprised when our friend who is very into politics and was the regional leader of one of the parties - basically nationalist, wanting back old values - said that he needs to go!
I would think and hope that your friend is fine.
