Palin on Art - Hammershoi DVD by julwis on 12 July 2008 8:12pm

Im probably the last to note this but just in case it hasnt been mentioned. I saw that theres a new DVD called Palin on Art. This has The Mystery of Hammershoi, The Colourists and the Anne Redpath documentaries on it. Just leaves the Matisse program left to release.

Its a "must see" Julwis
My copy finally arrived yesterday - Half way through and watching Hammershoi tonight - Loved Anne Redpaths work, and very interesting to learn about the Scottish Colourists -
LATER: Just finished watching the Hammershoi film, it was magnificent, truly inspirational and left me spellbound. Beautifully made film and I loved every second of it. Thank you Michael and all who created this wonderful piece of work............

Any plans for this DVD to be available in America? The Amazon link shows that the DVD only works on European machines and the USA Amazon doesn't have it listed.

Sadly, Cathleen, you will find that the USA is sadly left out of many of Michael's projects. Have never been able to figure out why.

Thanks, Patty. I don't keep up with TV or movies too much, I just read about things I like and wait for them to show up on DVD and Netflix. I haven't watched commercial TV for decades. Literally. PBS kind of got stuck in a rut several years ago so I pretty much just watch what I can find on Netflix, either on-demand or rental. My guess is that before long we'll be able to download on-demand from BBC as well. In fact, I saw a post that hinted at that and was going to give it some investigative time soon. I'll let you know what happens.

This seems like a very interesting community; it is my first experience in such an environment and a positive one at that!

Cathleen

Well, please return, Cathleen. It's good to have a new face!

Cathleen, you can get this DVD from Amazon's UK branch and configure your DVD drive to play it. I use a program called DVD RegionFree that runs in the background whenever I watch something and all the movies I've bought from overseas including Palin on Art work on it.

It's well worth it too, his art programs are every bit as good as his travels. Now, if only the BBC would release "The Ladies Who Loved Matisse", which was filmed in part very close to where I go to school.

Thank you, fairygirl48! I assume you need to watch the DVD on your computer and not through your TV. Programming my DVD player sounds, well, tiresome.
