@ Spursfan - There's a big bus station right next to my house, so that might be possible.. I like the alphabetical order idea..
@ jbg - I'm not sure what you're referring to, Johnny, do you mean shaking hands with 100 women/men?
@ Lounge Trainer - good idea, but I'll do it like this: increasing by one each day. So, today is the second day, that means 2 push-ups, 2 sit-ups and 2 squats (instead of jumping jacks). By the end, it should be easy to do 100 of each. I'm going to add 'going for a walk' each day as well, and also use it as a chance to cut back on things like caffeine, sugar, junk food, alcohol, etc..
If anyone else is keen to join in on this little fitness program, feel free! At the end we can share our success stories.. |

That sounds like a plan ev. I just found out that I have a gluten intolerance...so I'll go gluten free for 100 days, or life, hopefully life is longer than 100 days.
I watched the video of the guy aging over 17 years, wow! Did you watch the video that is listed after it....

How about blogging about your 100 day challenge for 100 days?

| Even better, Ev. You will be fit as a fiddle by July! I'm guessing that it will take some determination once you get over 25-30. Let us know. |

@ Loretto: Sorry, the video link doesn't work in Germany.. Don't think my little project is interesting enough to make a blog about it,. just a few comments here at Palin's is enough, for a bit of moral support..
@ LT: The theory is that by building up very gradually, it shouldn't be a problem. This is the first time I've embarked on such a mission. Generally I'm interested in what motivates people, and also what demotivates them. I think building up a skill gradually is definitely the key, rather than setting lofty goals, failing, then giving up altogether.

ev, I took my own advice and started blogging about going gluten and lactose free for 100 days, which will be August 1st.
Here's day 5 in case anyone is interested, all earlier entries are under Health to the right in the green bar.

Loretto, I regard all this 'gluten intolerant' nonsense as just that...nonsense.
However, I wouldn't ignore the symptoms you described regards sensation or lack of, to heat/cold. I get things like that but it's down to peripheral neuropathy due to alcoholism. |

That's interesting John, now I don't drink or smoke but I wonder if there is a blood disorder among celts? Yes, I am serious! Maybe an iron deficiency or something like that. I taught an African-American kid who had a specific blood disorder, the name of it escapes me, that was highly prevalent in that ethnic group. If he exerted himself even in the slightest way he became over heated. It was a potentially fatal condition. Anyway, I am off for my annual physical checkup on Monday, so I will mention it.
Stop listening to Johnny Cash..... His song I Hurt Myself, reduces my sister to tears, the twin sister, because it reminds her of my mother's battle against cancer and eventual death. Try to focus on the positive, Jacob and the rest of the family. |

Hugs Loretto, thank you. Don't want to scare you but us Celts do have some genetic faults ! Scots have the highest rate of MS in the world, but the good thing is that Edinburgh boffins lead the world in research into it.
Btw Lonnie, 'Hurt' was written by Trent Reznor of 9" Nails but even he admits that Johnny made that song his own. Also, I wasn't listening to that when I got sad, I was listening to The Evening Train. |

Lonnie, I smile when I remember that you have a twin.
It reminds me of the old story of Mike and Bernie Winters ( who were brothers but not twins ) appearing at The Glasgow Empire, which was known as the graveyard to English comics.
One brother performed for a few minutes to a silent audience and when the other appeared, some wit in the audience shouted out " For f*** sake, there's two of them ! " |
