Help! In Search of "The Dress" by emmanuel on 24 September 2006 11:05am

Greetings,

I keep having the most frustrating experiences trying to obtain a copy of the 1984 Michael Palin film short "The Dress" (not a series, I know, but this was the closest discussion board I could find). I keep buying it from people who claim it's the right film and instead I get copies of a 1996 Dutch film with the same title. It certainly doesn't help when imdb.com has the wrong picture attached to the Michael Palin film. As a result, so does Amazon and nearly every other place I checked. I think a lot of people now believe this is the same film which it most certainly is not. Is there a way we can keep history from being rewritten in this most annoying way? Does ANYONE know where a copy of this film can actually be obtained? Thanks for reading.

Wow, how frustrating! That's a good question. It might be worth your time to write directly to Michael's agency with your concerns. The address is:

Prominent Palin Productions Ltd.
34 Tavistock Street
London, England
WC2E 7PB

Good luck and let us know what yu discover!

So the DVD on Amazon for $10 isn't the same film? Good thing I didn't buy it. I've tried every short film site I know of and no one seems to have it available for viewing. Very annoying, I'd like to see it too. I put in a request via the Apple site for it to be sold on iTunes, so perhaps it will eventually be added. I've been watching episodes of "GBH", the 1991 miniseries Michael co-starred in, and have found that he's as good with drama as he is with comedy. Good luck!

Hi
I do have a copy of the short "The Dress" ( 24 minutes early '80s Channel 4) which I discovered whilst sorting out some old Beta tapes.
Can easily put it on a DVD & send it at no charge except postage, if it is to a far flung destination.
Don't understand how these boards work & I am reluctant to post my details for all to see. So some guidance will be necessary

These boards work just like most discussion boards do. Anything said here(with the exception of one-on-one messages in the chatroom)can be read and responded to by anyone else.

Please stick around, when I have the extra cash next month I may take you up on the offer. Or once you get it into a digital file format, you could upload it to youtube.com for free. Either would be much appreciated. Thanks for letting us know :D

Wow! I really appreciate your kindness. I can cross another Palin film off my list, then :)
