A Big Bouquet Arrived Today, errr, Yesterday........ by ellenpc on 12 February 2003 3:06pm

Yes, tis true, a very big bouquet in a large silver pot arrived on our doorstep yesterday morn.

Great excitement in the Collis household!!

Who'd sent us this lovely thing??? And, could we keep the bubbly paper to take to school and annoy our teachers????

Well the mystery sender was Dianne, saying "thanks" for a great time in Wellington and thanking us for the picture of her and I with Michael with Michael's dedication "To Dianne, with love, Michael Palin" or words very close to that, along the top. (Help me out Di :-})

Now for all you keen mystery solvers out there; how did Michael sign a picture that had just been taken and write the dedication without Dianne noticing, all in the space of 4 1/2 mins???? And no, we don't have one of those instant print cameras.

Give up?????

Well, by a bit of slightly sneaky skullduggery and bare faced cheek!! By me , not Michael of course!! :-}}

The day after we returned home from Weliington, we'd got two copies of the Wellington/ Michael/Di&Ellen pic printed, with one other good one of Michael speaking at the function. I'd written some little notes to Michael, asking whether he could please dedicate these pics to Dianne, John and I and the other to John's parents. I'd mentioned how lovely it was to have met him in Wellington, hoped he'd enjoyed our gifts and safe travels.

We then gave the pics to John's parents who were going to see Michael with our tickets (the wedding remember) at his Christchurch function.

They were lucky enough, like Julie, to be at the front of the signing queue and gave the pics with my paper clipped notes attached to Michael. He read them and happily signed the photos saying he remembered us and of course, that was in Wellington. Brilliant chap!! :-}}

So now we had these precious photos and with the greatest of pleasure sent Dianne's off to her, knowing she'd get a big surprise.

Michael had kindly written on our photo "For Ellen and John, Great to meet you! Michael Palin"

As you can imagine we were pretty happy and very grateful to Michael for signing these 'unofficial' pics.

John's parents had theres too and were very happy also, so the whole family is 'Palin Potty" at the moment.

Just wanted to share this with you all as it was so nice to be able to brighten Dianne's day.

When you meet Michael, he is so friendly and kind and eager to make his message out to exactly who or what you'd like on your book, or, DVD cover, or whatever.

I was hoping it wouldn't be too cheeky to send our pics along to be signed and luckily Michael didn't mind.

Thankyou Michael, you continue to be amazing always. x

Bubbly paper! Oh how I love bubbly paper! POP! POP! POP!

Ellen – it was ‘To Dianne with love – Michael Palin’ you were correct with every word. I really, really, really, really and really once more liked that dedication Michael wrote. He must have known I would. I had this silly glazed look on my face when I met him you see. The type that said, “this woman will go gooey if you write ‘with love’ in the book or on the photo. I say this because he did not write that for everyone. Only the people with glazed looks and very silly grins. :-)

LOL.

Ellen, did you catch any pictures of Dianne's "glazed look and very silly grin"? I'd pay money to see this. ;O)

How can you people be so lucky??? How come I feel like the only one that's isolated from the palin experience??? AHH!

nottlob – you are not the only one to feel isolated because you have not met or seen and heard Michael talk. I know there are others who feel the same as you. I used to feel as you do. I believed I would never get the chance to meet Michael. However, I was wrong. Just like I know you WILL get your chance. Believe nottlob! It will happen, usually when you least expect it.

Dreams do come true!

Mary, how much???

It had better be more than a pound !! :-}}

Ellen

seeing a money making scheme materialising before her very eyes................

Then realising she couldn't really 'peddle' Dianne for profit!!

Sorry Di, I promise not to exploit you without at least offering you a 'cut' in the 'action'!! :-}}}

BIG HUG Judy @@@@@@@ xxxxx Diannes right, please don't stop believing, we're all beside you for the ride.... xxxxx :-}
