| FULL CIRCLE - THE PHOTOGRAPHS |
| In August 1995, photographer Basil
Pao joined Michael Palin and his documentary crew on the tiny island
of Diomede in the Bering Strait to begin their epic journey around the Pacific
Rim. Over the course of the next year, they travelled south across the wilderness of the Russian Far East, through Japan, China and the economic 'miracles' of South East Asia until they reached the tip of New Zealand's South Island; then from Cape Horn at the bottom of the Americas, over the spine of the Andes to the source of the Amazon. From Colombia, they travelled north through Mexico, the U.S.A. and Canada, arriving back at the Bering Strait a year later. Through eighteen countries, in rain or shine, Pao captured the breathtaking beauty of the land and its people in a series of photographs that are rich and diverse in content, powerful yet elegant in form. Full Circle - The Photographs is a collection of some of Basil Pao's best images from the journey. |
