View of a small section of the enormous slab of concrete outside my hotel window in Benghazi, vaguely reminiscent of Tiananmen Square in Beijing. I didn’t know what it was meant to be, nor its exact function – it was way too big to be just a heliport. But I did think at the time that it would make a monumental drive-in theatre, one that could accommodate all the cars in Benghazi.
